All dogs in Lucas County are required to be licensed.
As a convenience to the public, the Shelter is an official agency to issue Lucas
County Dog Licenses. These are issued during normal business hours for a charge of
$25.00.
The Shelter waives its agency fee as a community service. We accept either cash or
checks, but since we are a secondary license agency, we cannot accept credit cards
for this service.
Please note: If you owned your dog prior to January 31 but did not
obtain a license, there is an additional mandatory $25 fee for non-registration.
The total cost for a new license is then $50. Check with the Lucas County Auditor's Office if you have
any questions about this provision.
