"Blessing of Animals"

Blessing of the Animals.jpg

A blessing of animals, what a wonderful thing for our best friends - especially the animals in a shelter!

Sunday, October 3rd, Bishop Brian J. Kennedy, Holy Trinity Celtic Orthodox Church, blessed the animals and all care givers at the Toledo Animal Shelter. The blessing coincided with the feast day of St. Francis Assissi, patron saint of animals, on October 4th.

“Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.”

Donna

See the TV 13 ABC coverage on Donna's amazing story here.

On Wednesday, April 1st. we received a call from a woman who stated that there were some animals abandoned in her neighborhood. They found a mother cat, three kittens and two puppies. She called us and we instructed her to bring them in. One of the puppies, Donna, a 7 week old Shepherd Mix, had a level 6 heart murmur, diagnosed as PDA (patent ductus arteriosus), a congenital heart defect.
