What a perfect picnic setting - gorgeous weather, lovely music, and the gathering of friends at Belmont Country Club enjoying the Toledo Animal Shelter Auxiliary’s annual “picnic”. The balcony was full as guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, perused the wonderful assortment of Silent Auction items, and enjoyed the music provided by Kevin Korecki at the keyboard.
 
Nancy Ligibel, President of the Auxiliary, greeted guests as they were checked in by Carol Arnold, Treasurer, Pamela Roberts, Secretary, and Jean Smith, 2nd VP. In the dining room, tables were adorned with lovely pots of flowers donated by Jeff Millns of Joe I. Cooper Florist, which were “won” by a guest at each table at the end of the evening. New Shelter Board Member, Rob Ludeman, gave the invocation before a delicious meal.
 
Nancy introduced special guests and attending Board Members from the Shelter and Auxiliary and especially thanked 1st VP, Carole Buchanan, for all her work in preparation for the event.
 
Jack Fynes, President of the Shelter, briefly addressed the group, thanking the Auxiliary for all their work during the past year. Jack happily shared the wonderful happenings at the Shelter to make the animals more comfortable until loving homes are found for each of them. He also introduced the Shelter’s Executive Director, Helen Bensch, who has initiated many exciting new programs .
 
Pat Hunter, Past-President, thanked Nancy for her hard work this past year and presented her with a special gift from the Auxiliary.
 
A 50/50 raffle was conducted with tickets sold by Sharon Simmons and Ron Coffman and won by Marshall Isenberg. Linda McBee, Silent Auction Chairman, announced the many Silent Auction winners who happily claimed their items. The “hit” of the auction was a stunning dog sculpture donated by Scott McMunn.
