The “Come Play All Day at Put-In-Bay” fundraiser put on by the Toledo Animal Shelter and The Jet Express on Sunday, August 24th was a first time venture for the animal shelter, but as it turns out, was so successful that many people indicated they would like to do it again next year.

The day started out at the new Toledo Maritime Passenger Ship Terminal located on Front Street. The event was advertised as “rain or shine” but Mother Nature cooperated beautifully with a sun-drenched day. The sunset cruise on the way back to Toledo was wonderful, as the skies displayed the most spectacular sunset. Shelter Board President Jack Fynes, along with Board Treasurer Steve Mason and volunteers Kathleen Walczak and Aaron Myers checked in the 200 plus fun-seekers headed to the island via the Jet Express.

Lance Woodworth, Director of Operations for the Jet Express and Captains Ralph Brumby, and Randy Stonerook and crew made the trip to the island in just 90 minutes. Raffles with great prizes, fun, and laughter made the trip seem much shorter.

Golf cart discounts and special deals at various island restaurants and bars exclusively for shelter guests, offered a variety of choices and loads of good fun.
